For Love & Lemons x Library Science present “Pleasure Reading,” a reading roundup that goes beyond the best-seller lists, where the psychology of desire, intimacy, and sensuality is explored through nuanced stories and unparalleled prose.

"Our list of literary erotica includes narrative fiction about love, desire, intimacy; theory about our relationship, as women, to the body; poetry for heartbreak - the angry kind. And of course, we’ve included a few titles you might find in the banned books section — each rejected, at the time they were initially published, for being too provocative, too obscene. It’s important to us that we note: most of these books are much older than we are and many are translations. We built it this way to acknowledge that eroticism is and has always been an important entry point into art, literature, and everything else."

“The erotic is a measure between the beginnings of our sense of self and the chaos of our strongest feelings.” - Audre Lorde
